Would someone tell the national press that Americans aren't stupid? (see http://www.time.com/time/covers/1101030811/nhoward.html)

Supporters of Howard Dean know exactly where he stands firm and where he's less than sure. Unlike most politicians, he doesn't pretend to have all the answers. In fact, that's why so many people support Howard Dean. Even when we disagree with him or where he's less than sure of the right direction, he never attempts to cover up his view or outright deceive the public.

It's a good thing he doesn't. Like it or not, casting his lot with the new Internet realities he's as subject to a quick lashing as he is to a quick show of support. We are all interconnected in a decentralized fashion and if he is ever seen as insincere his star will crash. His sincerity, honesty, integrity, and his ability to connect us into communities keep his support base growing. His positions on the issues have to be in the right neighborhood, but people are looking for someone who will take a stand and connect them into vibrant communities.

Among us are flaming liberals, passionate moderates, and not a small number of conservatives.
